I'm sure most of you have/will have read this but I just want to say how awesome it is.

THIS is what 343 need to do. Bring in assets from all corners of the fiction and make me feel like I'm part of something greater than what I can see, not just what is in front of me. Using the older MJOLNIR armour would lend itself to going back to classic gameplay, at least in the campaign (and honestly, I'd like 343 to just make multiplayer non-canon again, it's unnecessary to have to canonically explain a multiplayer mode in an FPS game).

The gameplay was also constantly shifting little and often, like all good FPS games should. Rather than unloading full clips into Promethean bullet-sponges for 20 minutes at a time. It's what most of the games in the series understood. This explains it more efficiently:

Halo 4 did this well at times of course, but not as well as the other games in the series. I also understand that 343 were rushed and probably had more ideas if given the time, but most of this can accomplished in the level design, not by putting in the Falcon or Revenant that is just sitting there on the disc. Also, I'm not sure how they could put an unarmoured John character model in the game, in case someone looked at it in Theatre mode. lol jk there won't be a theatre mode.

I know nothing even close to this will be in the final product but... it's nice to imagine.

Good news:

they actually thought there was too much deeper fiction in Halo 4 and actually want to lessen it.

hahahahahaha....sigh

I honestly thought if anything they should add more, but they're just so damn afraid of it.  The fact that the average person didn't understand the didact doesn't mean you make him simpler, it means you spend more than zero minutes explaining things about him IN THE ACTUAL CAMPAIGN.  The terminals should've seriously been part of the campaign.  Make the memories of the didact in the terminals part of Johns geas, and as he progresses they keep unlocking and revealing themselves to him.

I definitely understand why they feel the way they did, but I do agree with you Wazooty that it's not the quantity that's the issue so much as the delivery. Maybe if there was less to shove in they'd do a better job with it, but that doesn't speak to using your talented people effectively.

That said they seem to have set the table for a clean slate in the next game so maybe they'll just go back to "Master Chief is here" and forge some new paths. There's nothing in the expanded fiction that feels like it needs other hooks.
