The next novel in the universe has been announced! It was be a short story that will be released digitally. No word on a physical copy just yet.

Might we see Buck and crew in Halo 5 as Spartans?
Praise Bird Jesus!

Grr....

Hmm?

Good to see (theoretically) the dangling plot thread of "what about the ODSTs" gets addressed. Nightfall pretty clearly suggests that elements of the program remain, but maybe the Helljumpers just get folded into the S-IVs.

The digital novella aspect is intriguing. Way I read it, we won't see a physical release unless the story comes as part of another novel or compilation.

I'm allergic to e-books.

Given how many Halo books come out these days, I'm increasingly looking at digital just because I don't have the shelf space to accumulate it. Luckily the DRM is pretty trivial to crack so I don't have to worry about format issues.

  • No. There is more. But you are not worthy. Not yet
With one easily-overlooked word, Matt Forbeck has sent the entire LGBTQ portion of the Halo community into an uproar. Sort of.

Having not read the book (though fully aware of what happens), how many times was his gender referenced?

If it was only once...would it be that big of a deal to leave ambiguous?

It was literally one sentence, "Noble Six was a good man."

Would not have been hard for Forbeck to type, "Noble Six was a good Spartan."

Probably. I can understand why people would get upset with that, while I also think it's not a huge deal.

I thought the novella was good, but I guess my ultimate question was, "why not make this a full novel?" My only complaints with the piece were things that really could have been solved just by having more space to devote to expanding characterization etc.
